Pumpkin Mini!

It's been a real longg time since my last posting...hence finding it difficult even for a simple write up here!:)
I had been MIA from blogging, but I am happy to say that I had not been missing my crafts. I have been working on a few scrapbook mini albums (personal and as gifts)..yeah..mini albums are my current favorites!...

Christmas is around the weekend and here I am, sharing a Fall project (I know I am late .very late infact.lol.. but I am happy that I made it atleast!:)..)I had completed this project weeks ago, but cudn't get a chance (or time rather) to take pictures and post it here. I am so excited to share this and hope you like my work. I was inspired by the cute Pumpkin Fall mini here and this is my version below!

Handcut the album cover shape and leaves. I think some stitching would have enhanced the album cover..mm.learn as you make!:)

You can see some tags peeking behind the photos..for some journaling.
For the inner pages I used plain cardstock and created my own background from various stamps..The stamps are a mix of Hero arts, Lawn fawn and others. Attempted a quilled pumpkin here:)

These are the different tags I made for the album(I forgot to picture my tags earlier and this was a quick bad shot from my phone)

Happy Diwali!

I have been MIA from the blogworld for quite a long time (two weeks is real longg!).. have not been crafting heavily as much as I wished to, but did manage to make quite a few number (20 - my first high bunch ever) of festival cards for Diwali!. Many of my relatives and friends are here in the US and I felt that it would be a good idea to send them a handmade Diwali wish!..

As I was making multiple cards, kept the design very simple. Wanted to use a mehendi design on my card and the closest I had was the one I got as part of a Scrapabilities set. Quilled a vilaku/diya to depict the festival of lights:) and used my wood alphabet stamps for the title. Had total fun making these cards and hope the receiver feels joy too!

As Diwali is not a holiday here, we and a few of our friends celebrated the festival in advance over the weekend!. Though we couldn't burst the crackers (:(boo)..we enjoyed some sparklers and had homemade sweets/savouries followed by a grand potluck dinner:). I tried kaju katlis and for a first timer, they came out very well!:)...Wish you all a Happy and Safe Diwali!

Thinking of You!

Hope you all had a wonderful day crafting and making cards on World Card Making Day. I sure managed to find time to make a card to celebrate my passion.
It is Navarathiri (meaning "nine nights") festival in India and my mother has created this wonderful "bomma golu" which is an exhibition of various idols and dolls in odd numbered steps. This festival is celebrated for nine day & nights (hence the name) and the woman of the house invites other women to come inspect the kolu, eat a few snacks, sing devotional songs and go home with a couple of small goodies.
It has always been fun days for us to visit each other's house and have some good time together:)..I miss those wonderful days and long to be with my parents and siblings in India.
Here is a picture of my mom's "golu"

Coming back to my card, this simple and quick card is inspired by the Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab World and this one is for my family in India!..miss them much:(..

Celebrate U!

Hiii..Today I am sharing a simple Birthday card inspired by the square sketch at Moxie Fab World. The color inspiration is from Jay Gee's Nook challenge. This card would go to my niece who is celebrating her birthday this month and I hope she likes it:).

I inked the doily edges with yellow memento ink and embellished its center with flowers. The center of the doily also has a very light shade of yellow which is not quite visible here! (The whole card has a little more yellowy tinge to it which did not come up well in the pic!:(..). The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn Plus One and the pearl flourish is from Scrappabilities. The monogram and rhinestones are from my stash.

TWINS!!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend:).. I had a relaxed weekend and even got time to create a baby card for my friend who had a naming ceremony for their sweet little adorable twin girls!:) I tried out a fun technique of reverse stamping to stamp the double strollers in the card and heat embossed them with white powder. I need to be more patient and careful with this technique since I did not get the reversed image right on the card the first time and I had to outline the image using my embossing pen to get the image better. But I am quite happy with my first try.
The banners were hand cut for the title and I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on vellum.  I included some foam stickers for the wheels and topped them off with snowflake colored pearls.

Ribbon Flower!

Just popping in to share a card that I created for a few of my favourite challenges:).. I love E.T.s creations and she makes some of the most gorgeous cards I have ever seen. I wanted to try her ribbon flower technique and while I did find it difficult to match her finish, mine managed to look like a flower and I liked the way it turned out. I used a wired ribbon (both the ends are wired and it is easy to ruffle them) and included a brad to the flower center to complete the flower.  I should say that one can never go wrong in making flowers out of ribbon and they tend to come out lovely always!:)

I loved the Card Patterns Sketch for this week and it was the perfect base for my card. I got to use my new Lawn Fawn stamps (Yippee.I was sure excited to hold them and stamp!)..they are so awesome and perfect.

Back to School!

Today I would like to share a school themed card that was inspired by the "Back to School" challenge at Wee Memories. My little one is in her pre-school and loves to recite ABCs and 123s as often as she can:) A couple of days back, she was reciting the numbers and she knew upto 20. When she finished off with 20, I continued the sequence with 21 and to my surprise she took the clue and came up with 22,23..upto 29 and then she stopped..She couldn't think of what would come after 29! and gave us a "whatz next?" look:)..These sweet little moments really make us smile and be happy and proud of her!..

Coming back to the card, I love to gift people and teachers were no exception. When I was in school, I would appreciate them in whatever way I could..be it with flowers, chocolates, greeting cards..Only thing I missed doing was gifting handmade cards which I wasn't aware of how to make them then..I would like to make up for it thro' my daughter and lead her along the way..

I usually do not blog much except for a few details about the card, but this post has had me pour out my feelings!!!..is it because I was missing my School deep down!..yeah we all do!..guess, everyone reaches that part and life has to go on!. ok.enough of my ramblings and here is my simple card.

I love the polaroid stamp from Lawn Fawn, but I do not own one..I wanted to give a blackboard look to the card and used my own version of the polaroid for the same:)

Best Wishes!

I had not been able to craft for quite some time..either due to lack of mojo or due to work!..I fancy myself crafting in my thoughts, but when I sit down to put them on paper, there bursts my craft bubble!..am sure some of us would have faced this!..
Shruti's post gave me a wonderful boost and I heavily wanted to craft. Thank you Shruti for the love you have shared thro' these awards..
I created a simple embossed card which goes for the one layer challenge at Lawnscaping. I scored the cardstock to get the texture using my plastic knife as the bone folder:)..I also did some stitching to underline my sentiment..loved it!:)
