Birthday Cupcakes!

Whew!.. what a close match that was between India & Srilanka. Congrats to the Indian Cricket team for emerging champions and winning the coveted World Cup. As for me, I had a wonderful weekend, rising early (3:30 AM CST!!!) to watch the nail-biting grand finale, shouting..clapping for the runs and wickets:)..and..and..gulping scoops of icecream whenever an opponent wicket fell..;)
April has started good for me..was able to make some cards over the weekend..:)..

This is my first paper pieced card..couldn't wait to try this technique with the little cup cakes from my birthday stamp set. Loved the way the cupcakes have turned out..added some glitter and glossy accents on the banner and cakes. Guess my stamping needs more practice as the stamped sentiment appears faded towards the end!

Best Wishes!!..

One late afternoon, hubby called up and informed that one of his colleague M was leaving his team and we were invited for her farewell party that evening!..I had known M for quite some time and was aware that she loved quilling. I wanted to make her a quilled card (a quick one) and surprisingly A too felt that a quilled card would be apt:)..

With my 2 year old, constantly tailing me, it was quite difficult to get a card done, not without letting her do the paperwork..Only after A came home and played with her, did I get time for the card.

I had been wanting to quill a duck for quite some time and this card fulfilled the wish:)..So here we go, three quilled ducks (A, me and my little gal:)) wishing M, love and happiness always!!

Follow your Heart...

It's been quite a longgggg time since I crafted..and finally I made time to create few cards...
today is the last day for the Women's day event at the Indian Craft Room and I wouldn't want to miss on the fun:)....I am a last minute crafter :)).. and the deadline got me on my toes..

I enjoy following my heart.. willing / liking to do what I feel!!..there's been ups and downs but at the end of the day, satisfaction and a sense of fulfillment is what matters!!..

As always there's some quilling in my card:).. and I liked the quilled tree.. I had a few sea shells that I had collected on a beach trip and was happy to use them here...I hand cut my card title from the sand PP and only after pasting the letters did I realize that my "L"s have turned up the wrong side..lol..I hope they don't make much difference!!!:)..

Flower Pot Card!!

Bing.. Bang..Boom!..Diwali has come!!!..crackers, chakras and flower pots sparkling around...am having a wonderful time..enjoying mom-made sweets and savouries..:)..with the sound of crackers in the background...Now these flower pots reminded me to share pictures of a card that I had created some time back.
This card here is not of the cracker type, but of the small flower pots type where you actually plant flowers:))
This was created on the lines of a wonderful tutorial at http://www.splitcoaststampers.com.

The inside of the card is as below..
I dedicate this card to my family and my dear friends. Wish you all a very Happy & Safe Deepavali.
Have a blast!!!..

Sweet Little Sunshine!!

Amidst creating cards, I wanted to scrapbook a page of my daughter. Tejal's awesome card here provided me with a wonderful theme to create the scrapbook layout. I created the rainbow with the tutorial provided by Michele Kovack, but I must admit that cutting the layered colored cardstocks was quite difficult for me.
I sponged the base white cardstock using light blue dye ink to get the sky effect. I wanted the Sun to be quite different and wondered if I could make the spiral shape to resemble the rays. It worked and I really loved the outcome:). The black birds are quilled ones too (sorry for the poor photography).. I added the red blings at the last minute to look like fruits on the tree:). such last minute ideas seem to work!!!

It was total fun creating this page with way too many ideas and possibilities.  I had to force myself to avoid cluttering it with too much detail and bring it to a finish..lol.

I am entering this project for CraftyJC Challenge 3 – Be Inspired with my inspiration coming from Tejal's card. Thanks for looking.
